I am so excited to introduce the newest KGP baby! I’ve known mom for years:) In fact she babysat the kiddos that were in my hubby and I’s wedding the night of the rehearsal. Grandma sang in the wedding and grandpa married us! We go waaaay back and this family is woven with ours:) And I think in the history of grandmas there has never been a more anticipated baby- except maybe for my boys’ two grandmas;) Newborn sessions are so special for me and important too! I can’t wait for little baby girl C to see how much love her family had for her from day 1. Welcome to the world, baby girl.

Meet L & M! They’re getting hitched in July and I’m the lucky one that gets to document it! These two are super great and I’m so excited to be their photographer:) With any photography assignment my goal is to define through pictures who they are together, but in an authentic way. I want to photograph who L & M are as a couple and preserve who what defines them right now. LIfestyle photography’s purpose is to not only to remember how we looked, but how we loved. One of the greatest compliments I receive is when someone says that I captured the essence of a family or couple. Relationships grow and mature and their lives will look different in years to come so I wanted to capture who they are now. The images below are a result of their love, laughter, and delight with each other:)

Oh how I love this family! I’ve known them since we traveled back to Colorado and they are some of my favorite people in the world. Our boys are both three and best buds:) and their youngest just turned one! You may remember seeing their birthday bash here. She knows how to throw a birthday party! I love, LOVE first birthdays! They are so much fun to document and every little birthday girl and boy is always so different with their cake! This was an extra special birthday because the W’s are like family to us and it was a double birthday bash! Baby Noah who turned one and Carson’s BFF, Luca, who turned 3:) If you follow my blog, you’re sure to recognize them-they are repeats and I hope that I’ll get to capture their memories for years to come! Oh man, this is hard! I SO want to post like 15 images from this mini-session, but have decided that they (probably) want to save their favorites for the surprise of their guests when they get their Save the Date in the mail:) So…I have decided to share just a few. Yes, I’m pouting- a little anyway:) I will blog a bit more about these two love birds when we have our engagement shoot in the spring. In the meantime, here’s Kim & Mike:
I LOVE when couples are willing to try stuff that seems-or just plain is silly/new/fun/different. I’ve learned throughout the years that I can allow myself to take risks and be creative and it’s okay when shots don’t work. I still give myself the freedom to make mistakes-when it doesn’t work I move on, but when it does…that’s pretty cool. What I often tell my clients is, “you’ll either love it or hate it”, but this one I can’t decide. So the idea was it’s a clock and they’re Save the Dates… I can’t tell if this works or if my dad’s humor got ahold of me. I should say my humor that I got from my dad, but I’m still in denial that my jokes are starting to sound like his. Oh boy…Tell me what you think in the comments.

It was yet another soooo cold day in the amazing city of Denver, but I never let that stop me from documenting life and having fun! I am so blessed to capture life in the form of photography. In the A family’s case we had either cold or colder to choose from and they were such troopers! I am so overdue for a blog! It seems like it was just October! November was busy with a trip to Nebraska to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday-yes I’ll post a few pics “someday”:) Then I blinked and December was gone and while I thought I had posted our Christmas video I hadn’t. So if you wish to see it you can click here. I also have my first trip planned to Tennessee on Friday so I’m not sure when the blog will be caught up… I do plan to post the best of 2011 and while in my type A personality it should come before this blog post, it just can’t. Some things are more important than chronological order:)
The end 0f 2011 came with an unexpected trip to Nebraska. It started Friday around 10:00am with a phone call from my beloved cousin, Christy. She is truly one of my favorite people in the world and since our mom’s are twins and we are only a month apart we were brought up more like sisters than cousins. My earliest memories include Christy and she doubtlessly has had one of the biggest parts in molding the person I am today. All that to say that I love her dearly! So when she called me around 10:00am on Friday to tell me she was in labor with a baby that we have been praying for for over two years! you could say I was a little excited:)
Backup a few years…Christy and her husband, Trent, have a beautiful little girl-Maya. Who, by the way, was one of my very first models ever:
Maya is now 4 and sometime when she was around 2 they found out they were expecting. Sadly, they lost this baby and another that was to come after. After loosing these precious babies, they were unable to conceive and struggled with fertility for the next year. So you see we have prayed and prayed for little baby Megan. And as God had promised them 9 months ago…she arrived on December 30th. Miracles do happen and I was blessed to meet one just a few days ago. Meet baby Megan:
