Meet L & M! They’re getting hitched in July and I’m the lucky one that gets to document it! These two are super great and I’m so excited to be their photographer:) With any photography assignment my goal is to define through pictures who they are together, but in an authentic way. I want to photograph who L & M are as a couple and preserve who what defines them right now. LIfestyle photography’s purpose is to not only to remember how we looked, but how we loved. One of the greatest compliments I receive is when someone says that I captured the essence of a family or couple. Relationships grow and mature and their lives will look different in years to come so I wanted to capture who they are now. The images below are a result of their love, laughter, and delight with each other:)
Like all great love stories they have a beginning:) L & M’s began here:

They ? comics so where else to go for their eSession?

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed the sneak peek:)

I am so overdue for a blog! It seems like it was just October! November was busy with a trip to Nebraska to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday-yes I’ll post a few pics “someday”:) Then I blinked and December was gone and while I thought I had posted our Christmas video I hadn’t. So if you wish to see it you can click here. I also have my first trip planned to Tennessee on Friday so I’m not sure when the blog will be caught up… I do plan to post the best of 2011 and while in my type A personality it should come before this blog post, it just can’t. Some things are more important than chronological order:)
The end 0f 2011 came with an unexpected trip to Nebraska. It started Friday around 10:00am with a phone call from my beloved cousin, Christy. She is truly one of my favorite people in the world and since our mom’s are twins and we are only a month apart we were brought up more like sisters than cousins. My earliest memories include Christy and she doubtlessly has had one of the biggest parts in molding the person I am today. All that to say that I love her dearly! So when she called me around 10:00am on Friday to tell me she was in labor with a baby that we have been praying for for over two years! you could say I was a little excited:)
Backup a few years…Christy and her husband, Trent, have a beautiful little girl-Maya. Who, by the way, was one of my very first models ever:

Maya is now 4 and sometime when she was around 2 they found out they were expecting. Sadly, they lost this baby and another that was to come after. After loosing these precious babies, they were unable to conceive and struggled with fertility for the next year. So you see we have prayed and prayed for little baby Megan. And as God had promised them 9 months ago…she arrived on December 30th. Miracles do happen and I was blessed to meet one just a few days ago. Meet baby Megan:

Finally a big sister!

Welcome, baby Megan, we are so happy that you have finally arrived!
If you have a miracle about to arrive, consider Kaela Green Photography to capture your first precious days. Kaela Green | 720.333.9011 | kaelagreenphoto@gmail.com

I’m so excited to blog about this family! Mom called me for an emergency session because her oldest boy was on leave for that weekend only and was about to deploy- he serves our country in the US Navy. It had been awhile since they had last taken family pictures and I am honored that she called me. I know you can see the love and connection between this family. It was a fun session and I can’t wait for you to meet the H family! Thank you, N, for serving our country and thank you, L, for giving me a call! Enjoy your sneak peek!

Beloved is defined by the official Beloved website as: A beloved portrait session is not just a photo shoot, it’s a celebration of love and genuine communications. These images serve as a doorway to bring two people back to the beginning of their journey together. We invite couples to share a piece of themselves and capture valuable moments through the art of photography.
A celebration of love and genuine communication. This is what I strive for in all my sessions, but especially in a beloved session. When a couple and/or family invests in a beloved session, I hope it’s more than just a session, but an opportunity to slow life down and reconnect. I am busy, you are busy, life is busy, but in the midst of our busyness we still need to slow down and enjoy the most important things beginning with our families.
Joey and Rachel decided to do just that. They have been married three years and this is the first time they’ve had professional pictures taken together. They are an amazing couple and we had so much fun together! Well, they had fun and I was blessed to tag along:) Thank you, J&R for allowing me to serve you through photography. You are so much fun, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

On a personal note, I will be leaving for my own belovedness with my hubs tomorrow. I will be out of the office celebrating 10 years for the whole week! We will be having a beloved session of our own with the fabulous Kathy Ray. I will be answering emails and calls when I get back:)

I met Lauren through an organization called MOPS. Every year they do an evening event for husbands and wives called MOPS & POPS-you may remember the photoboothish pictures I posted. You can click here to see them:) I donated a family session to the silent auction and Lauren was my 2011 winner:) Family session are always and the S family was no exception:) We started off the sesh with a little cousins action. How cute are they??

Funny story…these are Lauren’s nephews (whose mom’s name happens to be Lauren too:). I took my kids to one of our favorite places, The Berry Patch - keep in mind I saw these kiddos in Aurora. We are on the hayrack ride and I’m seeing these two cuties and I’m thinking I just took their pictures…but I don’t recognize mom. I heard one of their names and sure enough it’s them with-their mom the other Lauren. I introduced myself and there you go- small world:)
This one is a bit of an outtake:) Can’t resist a little pout:)

Then on to the family…beginning with some mommy moments:)

And daddy too:)

l.o.v.e this one! Squish!

I love to sneak a few with mom and dad:)

Another fave from the session…

Thanks S family! It was so great hanging out with you!

I first heard about the Beloved Movement at WPPI 2010. It was started by a photographer named Jesh De Rox. Although I missed his class (insert sob), I heard about it from everyone, and I mean everyone. Literally, everywhere I went after his class people were talking about this new movement simply called, Beloved. There was such a buzz about this Beloved Movement that I had to hear the whole story. I found an online link that allowed me to listen to his class and I was again so bummed I didn’t see his class in person. But even listening to it online gave me chills.
What a concept-what a perfect fit to the type of photography I aspire to capture.
As a lifestyle photographer, I try to educate people about this unique genre of photography. It’s not a picture or a snapshot. It’s not about what to wear or where it should take place. Of course, when you’re spending a chunk of change on photography- because let’s face it, professional photography is an investment- you want to have a nice location and have cute, colorful outfits for the kids. But it’s so much more than the color of the leaves and whether or not you have a good hair day! Lifestyle photography is about documenting life. Not only what you looked like, but how you loved. That smile your two year old makes when you tickle him. The way your daughter looks at you when you’re not looking. The way your beloved looks at you when remembering the day he wanted to spend the rest of his life loving only you. That is what lifestyle sessions capture. It’s not a location that makes a photograph beautiful, it’s the family, the love, the connection.
Beloved Sessions are genuine moments between a husband and a wife-not twisted poses that make you feel unnatural. They are a celebration of new love and of old love.
