I am so overdue for a blog! It seems like it was just October! November was busy with a trip to Nebraska to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday-yes I’ll post a few pics “someday”:) Then I blinked and December was gone and while I thought I had posted our Christmas video I hadn’t. So if you wish to see it you can click here. I also have my first trip planned to Tennessee on Friday so I’m not sure when the blog will be caught up… I do plan to post the best of 2011 and while in my type A personality it should come before this blog post, it just can’t. Some things are more important than chronological order:)
The end 0f 2011 came with an unexpected trip to Nebraska. It started Friday around 10:00am with a phone call from my beloved cousin, Christy. She is truly one of my favorite people in the world and since our mom’s are twins and we are only a month apart we were brought up more like sisters than cousins. My earliest memories include Christy and she doubtlessly has had one of the biggest parts in molding the person I am today. All that to say that I love her dearly! So when she called me around 10:00am on Friday to tell me she was in labor with a baby that we have been praying for for over two years! you could say I was a little excited:)
Backup a few years…Christy and her husband, Trent, have a beautiful little girl-Maya. Who, by the way, was one of my very first models ever:
Maya is now 4 and sometime when she was around 2 they found out they were expecting. Sadly, they lost this baby and another that was to come after. After loosing these precious babies, they were unable to conceive and struggled with fertility for the next year. So you see we have prayed and prayed for little baby Megan. And as God had promised them 9 months ago…she arrived on December 30th. Miracles do happen and I was blessed to meet one just a few days ago. Meet baby Megan:

It’s been awhile since I’ve last blogged! The holidays and vacation have got me a little off my regular routine. I appreciate the patience and flexibility my clients have given me- THANK YOU-just more proof that my clients rock!!!
Meet the K family!! They are two of the cutest little cutie-pies EVER! We had a great time reading, playing with leaves, and loving… This family rocked their session and I must say that even though I ran into the beginning of the game a tiny bit (diehard Husker fans-Yay GO BIG RED!!!) they were ever so forgiving:)

I’m so excited to blog about this family! Mom called me for an emergency session because her oldest boy was on leave for that weekend only and was about to deploy- he serves our country in the US Navy. It had been awhile since they had last taken family pictures and I am honored that she called me. I know you can see the love and connection between this family. The M fam is no stranger in front of my camera! We’ve had three happy years together:) I’ve been photographing their three little ones since their youngest was only months old and I can’t believe how big they’ve all gotten. It’s enough to realize how fast paced life moves. Which is exactly why I love lifestyle photography! Lifestyle photography is so much more than a portrait session-it’s enjoying time together as a family and remembering the little things that make your family unique. And uniqueness is one of things I love most about this family!! Mom had this great idea to head over to the CU campus in Boulder, CO as she and her boys (and girl) are HUGE Buff fans. This was difficult for me as I am a UNL alumni and bleed Husker Red, but I survived;) And the CU campus is incredibly beautiful and I can’t wait to have another session there again soon-did I really just say that?!? We walked all around the campus- played, smiled, and shot pictures. We ended up at the stadium entrance to finish the session with some really fun stylized CU Black and Gold lifestyle photos. Meet the H family! This family has a special place in my heart because they are a family with three boys just like mine:) Mom and I talk about life with boys and I have chatted with her a few times about this or that because her boys are a little older than mine. It’s good to know where I’m headed:) The last time these cuties were in front of my lens was two years ago-they’re bigger, but no less cuter! They all have the best laughs- EVER! You can hear these guys a mile away. I wish I could attach a sound track to the blog because their laughter is that awesome! Hopefully you can get a feel for how fun this family is just by the pictures. Enjoy H family!
I like to take a few pictures of just Mom and Dad. I usually have them whisper something to the other that’ll make them laugh. I joke that because no one will hear it it doesn’t have to be PG:) This is what I found the boys doing after I said that…
