A Fun V-Day Family Tradition

My husband and my family are two of my biggest passions.  When I find a great resource that speaks to both, I like to share the wealth.  I found The Dating Divas about 7 years ago.  They have been my go-to for date night ideas!  If you’re ever in need for any kind of date night idea- they are the place to go!

I got lost on their website one day and found Cupid’s Crazy Cafe.  I think it was designed as a fun thing for a couple to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but I tailored it to be a family tradition.  And it was a HUGE success!

First go HERE to grab The Dating Diva’s FREE printables.  Then send The Dating Diva’s website to send some love for creating amazing free stuff for us thrifty moms.

And then comes the super fun stuff!

Get yourself to my fave store, Target, and stock up on all their ca-ute V-Day items in the Target Dollar Spot. Once you’ve cutified the table, you create your menu.  You’ll need eight dinner items.  They don’t all have to be food.  We usually do a drink, a couple utensils, a dessert, some sides, a main, and a napkin.

When all the preparations have been made, welcome the kiddos in and introduce yourself as their server for the evening.  My kids always get the biggest kick out of this- my husband puts on a French accent and serves the food with a towel draped over his arm.

They “order” by filling in a number on the menu.  Remember the kids have zero idea what verb equals which item.  Only you know what they’ll get first by looking at your “cheat sheet”.

Which means for their appetizer they could just get a spoon and a drink.  Or your kiddo could hit the jackpot and get dessert first!  I think he was pretty happy about that:)

Mamas, take pictures.  You’re making some amazing memories.

What fun V-Day traditions do you have with your family?  I’d love to hear them in the comments!

Thanks, Lauren:). It has been so much fun every year.  We’ve only missed on year since we started.  It’ll be fun to look back on all the years of Cupid’s Crazy Cafe someday:)ReplyCancel

That is such a cute idea! I like the fact that they have no idea what they’re getting until it comes out.ReplyCancel

Jennifer- so true!  One year they started with just their utensil and a napkin- I’m not sure how thrilled they were with that first course. LOLReplyCancel
